down the dark dark street

I live in Sheffield in a little house on a little street full of very cool shops. There is a barbershop in the front room. It's not mine. My blog is named after Funnybones. I like old things that are beautiful and gin.

The Thin White Duke practising his sad puppy eyes. For the record he has nothing to be sad about.

"A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely."

The Edinburgh Festival was brilliant. We saw Shirley Gnome, and fell in love with her. Loved Best of the Fest - Joe Lycett was hilarious.

We went to see the David Bowie exhibition at the V&A for my birthday.

It’s as brilliant as everyone says. I now own more Bowie postcards than a person should.

In the queue, I spotted Michael Caine, in his previous life as ‘Dr Edward Archer’ as imagined in 1781 by sculptor Joseph Wilton.

Bournemouth in July. Love the rainbow beach huts.

Beautiful days and blue skies. First time I’ve swum in the sea in Britain since I was about 8 years old.

As a northerner it pains me to say, but the south coast wins the summer beach prize.

Have you ever been wild swimming? Google your nearest spot and go, it’s so fun. You’ll smell like a pond but you won’t mind.
