down the dark dark street

I live in Sheffield in a little house on a little street full of very cool shops. There is a barbershop in the front room. It's not mine. My blog is named after Funnybones. I like reading books, restoring old furniture, cooking, taking photographs, old things that are beautiful and gin.

This is how the story begins:

In a dark, dark town
in a dark, dark street.
In the dark, dark street
there was a dark, dark house.
In the dark, dark house
there were dark, dark stairs.
Down the dark, dark stairs
there was a dark, dark cellar.
And in the dark, dark cellar
some skeletons lived.

There was a big skeleton.

A little skeleton.

And a dog skeleton. *Woof*.

And that is why my blog has its name. Misremembered words from my favourite talking book, book and TV programme when I was a little girl, Funnybones. I remember my lovely mum reading it to me and my brother over and over again and us both screaming ‘some skeletons lived!’.

Burglar Bill was brilliant too: ‘I’ll ‘ave that.’  The most moral burglar in the land.
